About the role: 

We are looking for you, an experienced and dynamic Human Resources professional who will lead the HR function for a small but busy team in a fast paced environment. As a genuine people-person, you will have no problem collaborating cross-functionally to ensure service delivery that optimises business results and contributes to a rich employee experience.  

As the sole person responsible for the HR function, you aren’t afraid to roll up your sleeves to get the job done. You will be required to switch between talent acquisition, HR strategy delivery, change management and generalist HR duties.  

Experience in the retail industry is a plus, and bonus points for a background in not for profit organisations, member associations, early learning or education sector. Exposure to RTOs or work-based accreditations and training environments would be advantageous. 

This position is a full-time maternity leave cover position for 12 months. The ARA has a generous flexible working policy in place which allows staff to combine working from the office and working from home.  

You will:   

  • Have ownership over the full employee life cycle including performance management, talent management, organisational change, employment relations, grievances, and restructuring.   

  • Implement people strategies on key elements of the employee life cycle   

  • Have experience in implementing HR frameworks   

  • Know how to balance implementing policies that support team culture with meeting regulatory and compliance needs   

  • Be responsible for talent acquisition for employees and independent contractors and skills in identifying great people   

  • Be able to effectively use HR technology to enable an efficient HR function and to provide key people insights 

  • Updating and developing people related ARA policies and procedures.   

  • Providing employee relations advice.   

  • Maintaining accurate employee records.
