Job description

​We are looking for a seasoned Executive Assistant to support a busy CEO at Australia’s peak industry association for retail. The Australian Retailers Association is a membership association supporting 7,800 retailers across the country with employment relations, advocacy, training and industry information. The CEO is fast-paced and is looking for an Executive Assistant who is always two steps ahead at all times.  

Being Sydney-based, you’ll quickly become the CEO’s trusted advisor by freeing up precious time in his diary to focus on strategy and advocacy work. You’re not afraid of a heavy workload, can manage competing priorities and do all of this with a confident and professional manner. 

You can demonstrate an excellent writing capability to manage the CEO’s correspondence to stakeholders which includes letters, emails, briefing notes and meeting papers. You understand how important it is to treat the CEO’s brand with respect and attention.

To be successful for this position you will need to have proven experience to date in supporting a Senior Executive, ideally C-Suite and have worked in fast-paced environments.

  • Be the first point of contact for access to the CEO 

  • Diary management 

  • Draft correspondence on behalf of the CEO 

  • Manage all administrative requirements in relation to Board meetings including board papers, travel and event planning 

  • Manage internal committees involving the CEO 

  • Manage the CEO’s expenses and approvals 

  • End-to-end event management involving the CEO

Selection Criteria:

  • Proven experience supporting a Senior Executive, ideally C-suite 

  • Experience managing administrative requirements for a board 

  • Well-rounded communication skills 

  • Excellence in diary management 

  • Excellent judgement and confidence when making decisions 

  • High level attention to detail and time management skills 

  • Reliable and trustworthy 

  • Flexibility in the workplace 

  • Ability to work under immense pressure
